Canon on Monday announced the establishment of a marketing company in Vietnam aiming to create Vietnam-based import and distribution system for Canon products after over 10 years operating two offices in HCMC and Hanoi.
Canon Marketing Vietnam Company Limited was established in HCMC as a marketing subsidiary of Canon Singapore Pte.
Canon has for ten years operating representative offices in HCMC and Hanoi and has had Le Bao Minh Co. as a distributor of Canon products. The new US$3-million marketing offshoot will gradually take over the responsibilities currently assumed by the representative offices in order to develop Canon’s presence and services to customers in Vietnam more directly and progressively.
“Establishing our own sales company will allow us to better serve our customers as we are able to support Le Bao Minh and dealers much more in the areas of sales, marketing and service,” said Hideki Ozawa, president of Canon Asia Marketing Group.
Through the new marketing company, Canon also aims to further expand its market share within industries such as production printing and motion-picture and broadcasting production.
Noriji Yoshida, president of Canon Marketing Vietnam Company, said that his company targeted excess of US$500 million in sales by 2016.
Ozawa said that at present the economic focus has shifted to Asia after the U.S. financial crisis in 2009 and the current uncertain outlook in Europe.
“We regard the Asian market as the most important and Vietnam is definitely one of our most important markets as it is quickly becoming one of the leading economies in the region,” said Ozawa.
