Electronic Equipment Production Center, a subsidiary of the military-run telecom group (Viettel), will produce a tablet computer costing under US$200 as a trial in the second quarter this year.
Director of the centre Nguyen Vu Luu revealed the news on the sidelines of a seminar on scientific research held in Hanoi on February 23.
The “Made by Viettel” tablet will target a niche market of specific users. For example, those designed for education and training will be installed with applications suitable for users.
Mr Luu hoped that these new products will be sold on the market late this year.
Viettel is currently in the process of rolling out its smartphone to be launched in the fourth quarter.
